Artist statement: Below is the link for my performance
video. In the video, I am doing nothing but cartwheels. I am doing cartwheels
in 3 sets as many times as I could from the starting point to its endpoint. The
inspiration behind this performance is, one day I was walking by the quad and
saw children laughing and enjoying themselves doing cartwheels. That put a
smile on my face as I used to enjoy doing cartwheels myself as a kid. I tried
doing the same thing now as an adult and I realized that it wasn’t fun for me
anymore to do cartwheels. Instead, it was tiring and dizzying. My legs also
hurt the whole entire time I was shooting this video. It comes to that
realization that even if you are still a kid at heart or still appreciate what
you appreciated as a kid, there is a part of you who will not enjoy the same
things you enjoyed as a kid because it is simply just not the same. You are
older, more tired, less innocent, less free and less carefree at that.

Collage
Artist statement: The meaning behind my work is dedicated to
our culture more specifically in a woman’s world. The images depicted are
things I like and enjoy as a woman. The images contain: a Starbucks logo, Three
friends chitchatting and enjoying each other’s company, beaches, water, Tiffany’s,
an engagement ring, bikinis, being able to show skin. These are things that I
personally enjoy doing or having or things that I enjoy being of avail to me.
The sick twist is that as much as women like myself enjoy these perks, it is
also of nothing to us. Whereas women, in other cultures, are deprived of the
very same things that we enjoy but are not really thankful for. Marrying the
wrong guy and baring too much skin can end up fatally, for other women.

Dada Manifestos
Reading
the Dada manifestos was admittedly difficult to understand from the artists
because their lingo is like a run on sentence. They do not really get to the
point but they just keep on using examples. From what I understand however,
Dada is a simple word that has created a movement because it is simple and it
can be anything you want it to be. According to Hugo Ball, Dada is an art. Dada
can also be a word that means saying "good bye". Dada can be anything
and everything making it an art. On the opposite spectrum, Tristan Tzara believes
in the nothingness and non-conformity making Dada in his opinion really nothing
which somehow equates that to the intricacies and complication that is similar
to life. He says that art is not supposed to be beauty because there is
no such thing but only objectivity. I think what he is saying basically is that
Dada is the opposite of what Hugo Ball's Dada means. Dada does not have to mean
anything, dada does not have to be art. Whereas Hugo Ball's Dada basically
means everything. Dada is the rebel in the art world. It is anarchistic
in an artistic sense that questions the political and social norms.

Reading 3
I read Program and be Programmed which is a basic guideline of etuquette for the usage of technology. I certainly enjoyed reading it because nowadays, people do need etiquette when using technology. I myself am part of that ratio as well. Since in reality we live in a world where technology will most likely will be around us 24/7, I like that there is a book out there that has the 10 commandments of technology. My favorite commands rules were: is to live in person and dont steal.
It is so easy to be on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter on a regular basis even when people are infront of you, I again am guilty of this. But I try to be conscious and more interactive with people when they are around as opposed to multi tasking my interaction with people and being on Facebook. I still have to catch myself and stop myself from committing these technology blunders because it is an easy habit to fall into. The other thing I really liked was the rule about not stealing. Nowadays, it is so easy to steal people's work through the resources of google, etc. It is easy to pirate and steals people's work that it takes away the creativity and eradicates the originality of people's work. A good reminder about that is a great rule for all technological users.

Digital Nation Doc
I felt that the Digital Nation Documentation was a great and accurate depiction of how students in general and how the generation is today. After watching this documentary, whenever I would sit in a classroom, I would look at how many people are on their phones. And what I observe is always the same thing - that almost everyone is on their phones, including myself. I think it is sad that we live in a world where we cannot thrive or function properly without technology. Although it has its great uses, it was not created to cripple us. Also, there was a part in the documentary where people were against the army recruitment center because it was centered on video games. I found that strange since it is a glimpse in my opinion, of what a potential candidate would be getting into. It enraged parents because of the fact that it was a video game which would in their opinion serve as a big propaganda to get a lot of candidates to sign up, which I do not think is necessarily the case. There are ups and downs to depending on technology, because frankly, it does make a life a lot easier. The one thing I take away however from watching this documentary is to not get crippled by technology.
This is my avatar for second life. To the left is my fantasy-self. My fantasy-self is tan and skinnier. I do love to wear dresses and I have long stringy hair. I picked the outfit because it is something that resembles to my style. I appreciate anything vintage and the dress on the left is something I would wear although I dont think I would wear it in public. Which is why it is my fantasy-self. My fantasy-self would wear anything vintage and 50's style all day. It is noticeable that my characters physical appearance are not too different. That is because there is only a few modifications I wanted to change from my real-self to my fantasy-self in terms of style and not so much on the physical appearance. On the right side is my real-self. I do have long curly hair and in real life, I am a much simpler person. I also just wear a lot of dark colors. My real-self is also a lot curvier.

3d model project
This by far was probably the most difficult project for me. I only learned the software in a short amount of time and this is the best that I came up with. Using SketchUp, I modeled a dreambox and the New York Skyline. The dreambox is of significant value to me. I got it in an art museum. I have always wanted to visit New York and so I decided to make a 3d version of it. I had a high level of difficulty for this project. I feel like I could have done better, but due to the time constraint, my 3d imitation is not as detailed as Id hoped it would be.
